Soft Eclipse: By Jayabrato Chatterjee

Soft Eclipse: By Jayabrato Chatterjee

This is a story superficial and disturbing lifestyles of Kolkata high class. There is a story of a girl, Mohini, her birth, her childhood, adolescent, three day love affair, marriage, betrayal, mechanical sex life, NGO’s, ladies chit chat, children and finally a widow. What else you expect in a life of so called rich and influential Kolkata’s elite and high class society.

This story line is pretty fast. But somehow… I felt that there are too many characters in the story… It appears that the author is trying to capture every second person he comes across. Too many people….. too many narrative about their life.

A light read.

Few lines by The Beatles stated in the book are quite interesting:

“When I get older loosing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a Valentine
Birthday greetings, a bottle of wine?
If  I’d been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I’am sixty -four?
